Safe, Natural, Gentle

In our practice, we offer ozone (a non-toxic disinfectant) as a pre-treatment rinse, and post-treatment irrigation. Each cleaning is customized based upon the individual, their needs, and periodontal health.  We use safe and natural materials and gentle methods to clean teeth without damaging them.

As an essential part of preventive dentistry, professional dental cleanings are important to maintain good oral health and deter from potentially serious dental problems. These appointments are especially important for catching cavities early and for oral cancer screening.  Prevention is our goal!

What happens at a dental cleaning?

At a dental cleaning, one of our IOAMT holistic-certified registered dental hygienists will gently clean your teeth using dental tools that are more effective than a toothbrush and floss. Even if you brush and floss properly, plaque buildup remains behind. In only a day or two, plaque hardens into tartar, an insoluble substance that can only be removed by professional dental instruments. Our dental hygienists will clean your teeth—including hard-to-reach areas—with expert precision. They will then polish them with gluten-free, dye-free and fluoride-free prophy paste, and floss away any excess plaque left behind. The goal of a dental cleaning is to remove tartar and plaque buildup that can cause gum disease and bad breath, called halitosis.

In addition to performing a dental cleaning, your appointment will include measuring the depth of periodontal pockets around the teeth to determine the health of your bone and gums. Our hygienists will also check your oral pH level, oral tissues for lesions, bacteria content (check out our oral bacteria service tab!), blood pressure and take any necessary x-rays. We like to be very thorough with our hygiene appointments and at-home care is an essential part of a patient’s oral health. We may ask you about current products that you use at home including type of toothbrush, toothpaste and cleaning techniques to assess how we can best help you. If you have questions about herbal homecare products, ask us for recommendations!
